Cinesite has been selected by Warner Bros. to provide major creature animation on Clash of the Titans. The work involves a major battle sequence, and will include 2-D and 3-D shots as well as a lead CG creature.
“Clash of the Titans,” directed by Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk) with Nick Davis as visual effects supervisor, is a remake of the 1981 film. It is the myth of Perseus and his quest to battle both Medusa and the Kraken monster in order to save the Princess Andromeda.
“We are delighted to be working on ‘Clash of the Titans’,” says Cinesite’s Managing Director Antony Hunt. “It’s an exciting project to be involved with, and we’re looking forward to further developing our creature pipeline to take CG creature animation to the next level of realism.”
Cinesite Visual Effects Supervisor Simon Stanley-Clamp, one of the UK’s leading visual effects supervisors, will oversee the work on this project. Stanley-Clamp’s credits include “Hellboy II: The Golden Army,” “X-Men: The Last Stand,” and “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,” among many others, lending his creative expertise to some of Cinesite’s most challenging work to date.
Principal photography on “Clash of the Titans” begins in May with the film set for release in 2010.
Cinesite is currently working on “The Prisoner for ITV/AMC,” “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” for Warner Bros., as well as Disney’s “Prince of Persia,” HBO’s “Churchill at War,” and Blacklight Films/Disney “Nature’s Naked Beauty.”
