At NAB 2015, Chainsaw editor Randy Magalski and colorist Andy Lichtstein will demonstrate the unique “live and interactive” workflow they use to conform and color prime time television series in a special presentation sponsored by Avid and FilmLight. The event is slated for Tuesday, April 14th at 11:30 a.m. at the Avid booth, SU902.
The presentation will focus on Chainsaw’s innovative Avid Media Composer/FilmLight Baselight BLG workflow, which provides the full power of Baselight within an Avid timeline. This workflow gives editors and producers the ability to keep a cut live and malleable far deeper into the post process than traditional methods.
Magalski and Lichtstein will also discuss their workflow in an NAB session entitled “Editor to Color and Back Again: Workflows for Editors and Colorists.” It is scheduled for Tuesday, April 14th at 9:30 a.m. in North Hall meeting room N258. Both events are part of NAB’s Post|Production World Conference.
A SIM Group company, Chainsaw delivers some of the biggest shows in prime time, including Game of Thrones, Teen Wolf, America’s Got Talent and American Idol. Magalski and Lichtstein have recently collaborated on a number of television projects, including the Emmy Award-winning series The Amazing Race.

Faced with tight deadlines and strained budgets, creative teams are often tempted to select music for their content simply because it “fits.” Unfortunately, that may result in content that is in tune with what’s trending but is out of tune with brand identity. Effective sonic branding, by contrast, requires thoughtful strategic planning,... Read More
