Editors Michael Polito, Bill DeRonde and Kevin O’Dea of <a href="www.chainsawedit.com.>Chainsaw, Hollywood, have won an Emmy Award for their work on the HBO music special Lady GaGa Presents The Monster Ball Tour: At Madison Square Garden. The award came for Outstanding Picture Editing For A Special (Single Or Multi-Camera) and was shared with editor Katie Hetland.
The Emmy Awards are becoming an annual event for <a href="www.chainsawedit.com.>Chainsaw. Its editors have taken home six of the prestigious awards in the past two years and 15 overall. Last year, Polito and DeRonde shared an Emmy for another HBO special, The 25th Anniversary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Concert.
Lady GaGa Presents The Monster Ball Tour captured a seminal performance by the singer who grew up 20 blocks from Madison Square Garden. It was recorded live over two nights with 17 cameras used to capture each performance. Creative editorial, color correction and final editorial were all conducted at <a href="www.chainsawedit.com.>Chainsaw‘s facility in Hollywood. Polito also served as an associate director on the project and assisted in planning the shoot.
<a href="www.chainsawedit.com.>Chainsaw provides post production services for a wide variety of television programming and has enjoyed particular success with shows involving music. “I love music, it’s my passion,” says Polito. “To have a chance to work on a show as big and spectacular as this was a thrill for everyone at <a href="www.chainsawedit.com.>Chainsaw—and it was a lot of fun.”
The show received a total of six Emmy nominations, including for direction, technical direction, lighting and Outstanding, Variety, Music or Comedy Special. It was directed by Laurieann Gibson. It was produced by Lady GaGa, Jimmy Iovine, Troy Carter, Nicole Ehrlich and Vincent Herbert.
