Continuing to build its resources for scripted television, Chainsaw, a SIM Group company, today announces the hiring of veteran colorist Kim Schneider. Schneider arrives with more than 20 years of experience in television post production, including a 7-year run as final colorist for AMC’s Sons of Anarchy. His first assignment at Chainsaw will be as final colorist for the hit ABC Family series Pretty Little Liars.
Schneider is the latest pro with strong credentials in scripted television to join Chainsaw in recent months. Other new arrivals include colorist Joe Finley, and editors Jim Eberle and Chad Cole. The post production facility is quickly becoming a significant force in the scripted productions, building on its longstanding success in unscripted television, awards shows, specials and independent features.
“Kim is another great addition to our scripted team,” said Chainsaw co-founder Bill DeRonde. “He has a history of working on great projects with some of the top cinematographers in television. We’re excited to add his talents to the mix.”
As Chainsaw expands, it is also seeking further opportunities to align with other SIM Group companies, according to SIM Group CTO Chris Parker. “Chainsaw’s growing roster of highly-talented colorists complements our other post-production services, as well as our camera and grip and lighting divisions,” Parker said. “The SIM Group now has the unique ability to offer a true end-to-end service for high-end dramatic television series.”
Schneider spent the past 22 years at Modern VideoFilm where he worked on scores of television shows for all the major networks. Other key credits include Netflix’s Portlandia and Sci-Fi’s Battlestar Galactica. His experience also encompasses animation, documentaries and TV movies. Schneider’s background includes a stint at Laser Pacific Media. He began his career as a film developer, chemical mixer and printer with Metrocolor Film Laboratory.
Schneider is excited by the opportunity to help build Chainsaw’s presence in scripted television. “It’s a great chance to advance personally and professionally,” he says. “Chainsaw has a world-class facility and an excellent, experienced team—many of whom I’ve worked with before. I look forward to growing with them.”
