Carolina Grip, a new production equipment rental company recently began operations to provide grip/lighting equipment, transportation and production crews to clients in the Carolinas and Virginia. The new Durham-based company is a division of MindWorks Multimedia, an award-winning interactive multimedia video production company also based in Durham, N.C.

The company can easily provide equipment to assist production companies, independent corporate and broadcast producers, visiting production crews, in-house corporate video production departments, documentary and independent film producers, freelance cameramen, grips/gaffers, television stations, advertising agencies and university production departments.
Carolina Grip currently offers two packages and a la cart equipment selection. The half-ton Suburban package is designed to meet the needs of a network or corporate traveling production crew. It includes a five-light package, audio and a basic grip package. Both a BetaSP and an HDV camera are available. Carolina Grip provides a driver who picks up the client at a convenient location and can also serve as an audio/lighting technician.
“Our Suburban package and service allows traveling producers and crews the luxury of not having to travel with heavy equipment or incurring extra baggage fees,” said Cline. “We’ll pick them up, take them to their locations, shoot for the day and then drop them off at the airport with their footage in hand. It’s very convenient.”
The one-ton trailer package is available for larger productions and contains standard grip, rigging and electrical equipment. The trailer can be delivered to a clients’ location and picked up once the shoot is completed. Carolina Grip also provides skilled technicians who deliver the trailer and serve as a member of the clients’ crew to provide technical expertise for the equipment rented.
In addition to the two packages, Carolina Grip offers a la carte rentals of its equipment. Additional equipment and trucks will be added to the fleet as demand grows.
