Visual Connections (formerly Picturehouse Marketing US) will be hosting its annual Image Expo at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City on October 13th.
This is a unique one-day event for image buyers, researchers, designers, art directors, and other users of images and footage. Discover new sources of imagery amongst the 80+ exhibitors, including niche stock archives, overseas agencies, and assignment/production companies. Pick up useful tips from industry leaders at the seminar and free sessions. Network with peers while enjoying complimentary refreshments, including wine and beer after 5pm. And maybe win a valuable prize.
The exhibitor line-up this year includes twenty-five that are new to New York, and twenty-eight that are traveling from abroad to be there. There are twenty-five fabulous prizes to be won, ranging from iPads to collectible signed prints, donated by exhibitors.
The copyright seminar and sessions offer an exciting opportunity to learn from some of the most knowledgeable and successful individuals in the industry. They will be discussing key issues confronting today’s image buyers: copyright in a digital age; career development; making the transition to using footage; the latest tools to aid collaboration; and using custom or stock photography creatively and effectively.
We are delighted to have Nancy Wolff moderating the 10am copyright seminar, sponsored by PACA (Picture Archive Council of America). Nancy is the country’s foremost expert on copyright law as it pertains to the image licensing industry. And we are thrilled to have a star-studded panel for our 5:30pm session on Custom or Stock: What do People Want??, sponsored by Corbis in association with the Art Directors Club: the résumés of Roger Black, Bill Oberlander, Seth Rementer, and Robert Newman contain an impressive array of awards and industry firsts.
The expo and afternoon sessions are free. The morning seminar costs $30 if booked online in advance ($40 at the door). Entry is restricted to professional image buyers and researchers. Places at the seminar and sessions are limited so advance registration is strongly advised.
