Cache-A Corporation (www.cache-a.com), manufacturer of award-winning archiving appliances, will unveil a new, more durable edition of its Prime-Cache5 desktop archive appliance at IBC 2012, Amsterdam, 7-11 Sept, (Hall 7.E06). This next-generation version of Cache-A‘s popular Prime-Cache5 is quiet-enough for both office and on-set use and, in addition to a toughened chassis, it features a built-in 2.5-inch HDD RAID 0, that significantly accelerates disk-based transfer speeds. These enhancements are made even more impressive with Cache-A‘s latest v3.1 software upgrade, based on 64-bit enterprise level CentOS 6.2, adding new LTFS capabilities, delivering further dramatic leaps in performance and operability.
Cache-A‘s Prime-Cache5 archive appliance was the company’s first product introduction, delivering all the features needed to provide professionals in film and video with networkable LTO-tape storage systems at an affordable price. This next-generation Prime-Cache5 delivers a huge step forward in enhancing its considerable capabilities in office and on-set production environments, while remaining compact, quiet and value-priced.
Highlights of the new Prime-Cache5 include: reinforced metal chassis, providing robustness in on-set environments; a 2.5-inch RAID 0 provides disk bandwidth that doubles the disk throughput of previous Prime-Cache5 models; new v3.1 software, featuring accelerated 64-bit processing, high-speed LTFS (Linear Tape File System) dubbing, plus new LTFS tape-spanning capabilities, and a host of customer-driven operational features allowing users to archive, access and exchange archived content with even greater ease.
Prime Cache5 integrates seamlessly into file-based workflows, and its connectivity options include, a dual GB Ethernet port, plus two USB 3.0 ports and four USB 2.0 ports. The built-in catalog database enables Prime-Cache5 to remember every single Cache-A tape it has ever seen, and can be shared with all other Cache-A appliances on a network. At 10.75″ x 4.4″ x 10.75″ (273mm x 112mm x 273mm) the Prime-Cache5, and associated cabling can easily fit inside a small case for safe transportation.
“Anyone looking for a compact, portable and cost-effective LTO-5 archiving appliance will really appreciate the beefed-up features of the new Prime-Cache5,” said Phil Ritti, CEO of Cache-A. “It is easy-to-use, unbelievably capable, blazing-fast and unobtrusive in the office. It is also ultra-quiet and rugged-enough for deployment in on-set production workflows.”
