AAF Nashville’s Silver Medal goes to industry leaders
According to the AAF, the Silver Medal Award Program was established in 1959 “to recognize professionals who have made outstanding contributions to advertising and who have been active in furthering the industry’s standards, creative excellence and responsibility in areas of social concern.”
We can’t think of a better way to describe Tom Gibney’s contributions, not only to The Buntin Group and our clients but the industry overall. In his nearly 10 years with the agency, Tom has produced hundreds of commercials, industry films, web content and more. If we go back to the beginning of his career, that number jumps to thousands.
“Tom is widely known and loved in the Nashville ad industry and well beyond it,” said Jeffrey Buntin Jr., President and CEO of The Buntin Group. “His willing spirit, curious mind, commitment to precision and devotion to his craft stand out to me as among the key drivers of Tom’s personality. They’re fundamental to who he is and this award is simply a reflection of that.”
“My thanks to the AAF for the Silver Medal Award,” Tom said. “To be in the company of such luminaries and legends of our industry, many of whom have been mentors, colleagues and friends for so many years, is the highest of honors.”
Tom joins a long line of industry leaders who have won the Silver award. They include Jeffrey Buntin Sr. and Jeffrey Buntin Jr. The award was officially received at the annual AAF Nashville Luncheon June 3, 2016.

Sonic Branding For Social Media: Engage, Align, Connect

Yet, while they know that social platforms are critical to boosting sales and attracting new customers, many neglect one of the most effective tools for connecting with consumers: sonic branding. Marketers often associate sonic branding with catchy mnemonics used by big brands like McDonald’s, Netflix and Intel in their advertising. But that is a very limited view of what sonic branding is and what it can do. Faced with tight deadlines and strained budgets, creative teams are often tempted to select music for their content simply because it “fits.” Unfortunately, that may result in content that is in tune with what’s trending but is out of tune with brand identity. Effective sonic branding, by contrast, requires thoughtful strategic planning,... Read More
