Bermuda, the recently launched experiential, production and design studio based in Buenos Aires and Miami, is celebrating its recent success at the International ANDY Awards and the Clio Awards as it looks forward to Cannes Lions in June.
The studio's work as a production company, alongside major agencies like Gut and DAVID Miami, earned ANDY Awards in several categories, along with a Gold Clio and two Bronze Clios. Additionally, Bermuda’s work was shortlisted four times in the Clios. Both global advertising competitions recently announced their winners at glittering galas held in New York. These achievements set the stage for the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity, taking place in June, where Bermuda's work will be showcased in several highly competitive categories.
Stella Artois’s “The Artois Probability,” created by GUT, won ANDY Awards in the categories of Idea and Reset, while also winning a Gold Clio in Experience/Activation Medium, Digital/Mobile Category and a Bronze Clio in Creative Use of Data Medium, Creativity/Storytelling category.
In addition, Bermuda’s executions for “iPager,” created by DAVID Miami for Google Android, won ANDY Awards in the Idea and Bravery categories, as well as a Bronze Clio in the Social Media Medium, Specific Target Audience category.
Bermuda’s work on iPager was also shortlisted four times at the Clios: in the Creative Business Transformation Medium, Products category; in the Creative Effectiveness Medium, National category; in the Experience/Activation Medium, Guerilla category; and in the Social Media Medium, Real-Time Response category.
“We’re delighted with these accomplishments, which are great examples of the kind of work that Bermuda is known for,” says Nico Ferrero, CEO. “Before forming Bermuda late last year, our prior companies – Ketama Collective, Bitgeyser and Pasto – frequently collaborated on complex brand campaigns that utilized a wide range of digital, mobile and practical technologies. That’s what we did for Stella Artois and Android, and we're gratified that the ANDY and Clio juries felt they were worth honoring.”
The Stella Artois project, which also won a Grand Prix in Cannes in 2023 and was just named Creative Data Campaign of the Year by Ad Age/Creativity, is a fascinating activation that took place at the renowned Museo de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires. Bermuda created a cinematic event, guided by an actual art historian, who helps guests discover the presence of beer in many historic paintings of European life in the 1600s, when Stella Artois was first brewed. He raised the possibility that many of the beverages being pictured in these old master paintings were very likely from the Stella Artois brewery.
For iPager, Bermuda undertook an ambitious design and fabrication. The company mocked up working versions of a device dubbed the iPager, an antiquated piece of gear masquerading as something new and flashy, designed to demonstrate how Apple’s iPhone uses old technology in how it sends and receives text messages from Android phones.
Bermuda custom-built a number of functional iPagers, which were based on the old pagers familiar to anyone over the age of 50, that ended up being the centerpiece of an influencer amplification campaign. The agency sent these devices to social media influencers and creators, who reacted with not unexpected confusion, coupled with the delight of unboxing what they thought was a ‘new’ piece of gear.
Bermuda’s capabilities span everything from content production for brands to experiential executions and activations, extended realities, metaverse executions, meta-human creations, AI infusions and prototyping, as well as CG animation and design. Billed as a Creative Technology Lab that’s focused on offering proficiencies and specializations global brands are searching for in today’s social media and experience-based landscape.
