Audio production company Bar1 Scoops Up Three Radio Lions at the Prestigious Awards Festival
Audio Production Company Bar1 will need to make more room on their awards shelf after Tuesday’s announcement that they scored three more Radio Lions at the Cannes Festival. The awards were a Silver Lion for a Scope Outlast spot “Oath of Office” as well as a Bronze for Scope Outlast for “Waitress.” The third award was a Bronze Lion for Fedex. The spot was titled “Epiphany.”
The Scope Outlast spots were part of a campaign written by Shawn Gauthier for Publicis New York. Hilariously insulting comments are made throughout the spot until the announcer explains, ” When you have bad breath, everything you say is offensive.” “Shawn had an innovative and funny idea. Those spots were already great on paper and got even better in the studio,” says Joe Barone, director of the campaign and owner of Bar1. Adds Gauthier “Joe brought a whole bucket of weird to the table. I knew I was going to walk out of the record with something really fresh and new.” Credits for the campaign also include Publicis’ CCO Rob Feakins, ECD David Corr, CD Dave Hermanas and Producer Marissa Schaeffer.
The Fedex spot “Epiphany” was co-written by Tom Kraemer and Scott Kaplan of BBDO New York. The spot has angelic singing representing “earth shattering” ideas throughout – such as using Fedex Ground as well as what to order for lunch. Director Joe Barone says “Fedex is a great client because they are smart and not afraid to do really funny.” “Producing a radio spot with Joe is similar to giving a TV script to an A-list TV director. It’s only gonna get better,” says Kraemer. Bar1‘s past accolades for other Fedex spots have included two Mercury Awards and a London International Festival Award. “Tom and Scott are a fantastic comedy team and bringing their concept to life really worked” says Barone. Additional credits for the spot include BBDO’s ECDs Greg Hahn and Mike Smith and Producer Chris Cassar.
All three spots were recorded and mixed by Tim Leitner at Bar1.

A&G’s New Third Space Studios Fills A Community Gap
A&G's (Allen & Gerritsen) new Third Space Studios is not just a full-service production offering for the creative agency. It's filling a gap in the community by making a complete video and production facility (live-action studio, production extension, editorial & motion, and audio services for podcasting, voice-over and online audio) available to all. Larger organizations like Blue Cross Blue Shield Massachusetts and Meet Boston, individuals like creators and collaborators, and nonprofits like the Boston Symphony Orchestra and The Wonderfund are already accessing both the space and the affordable creative and production support that comes with it. The Wonderfund has even tapped the studio for an entire brand relaunch. The studio is an extension of A&G’s Third Space, a new concept the agency opened in Boston and Philadelphia last year to give employees, clients, creators, and even startup incubators (Boston currently has two) a place to gather, dream, and innovate in comfortable surroundings. Located inside its Boston location (125 High Street), Third Space Studios is available to the Tishman Speyer building’s tenants who can use its ZO building app to request studio services ranging from studio rentals to co-creation to full-service production. Other businesses nationwide can request services through the studio website. Albolene, Certain Dri, and ThermaCare are examples of national clients that have utilized... Read More
