Owner Joe Barone Brings New Life to a Famed Location
Audio Production house Bar1 (www.bar1nyc.com) has moved from the now closed HSR Studios to a new location in Manhattan, taking over the Penthouse of the legendary Clack Studios at 56 West 45th Street. “We love the history here, Tom Clack was an audio genius, and we’re happy to be carrying on the legacy” says owner Joe Barone.
Bar1 will continue to offer their clients the high quality service they have been bringing to the industry since 2006. In addition to voice casting and radio production Bar1 will be expanding their TV mixing department. The new facility allows for updated mixing and viewing rooms with surround sound. “We’ll also keep doing original music because it’s so much fun and where Tim’s roots are.” Tim, of course, is Tim Leitner, mixer extraordinaire and Bar1 co-founder. Tim’s past work has included collaborations with the likes of Carly Simon, Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel. “Nobody in this city has ears like Tim” adds Barone.
In addition to Leitner the Bar1 team includes Casting Director Dawn Mjoen, Executive Producer Jill Cheris, Audio Mixer Drew Fuccillo, CFO Donna Barone and Office/Client Service Manager Maria Rogic.
Bar1’s new studio hosts three state of the art mixing rooms as well as a casting studio and an impressively vast outdoor space, where weekly happy hours will be the norm. “We’ll be toasting our clients rain or shine” promises Barone. “We want to make sure they know how much they are appreciated.”

A&G's (Allen & Gerritsen) new Third Space Studios is not just a full-service production offering for the creative agency. It's filling a gap in the community by making a complete video and production facility (live-action studio, production extension, editorial & motion, and audio services for podcasting, voice-over and online audio) available to all. Larger organizations like Blue Cross Blue Shield Massachusetts and Meet Boston, individuals like creators and collaborators, and nonprofits like the Boston Symphony Orchestra and The Wonderfund are already accessing both the space and the affordable creative and production support that comes with it. The Wonderfund has even tapped the studio for an entire brand relaunch.ย The studio is an extension of A&Gโs Third Space, a new concept the agency opened in Boston and Philadelphia last year to give employees, clients, creators, and even startup incubators (Boston currently has two) a place to gather, dream, and innovate in comfortable surroundings. Located inside its Boston location (125 High Street), Third Space Studios is available to the Tishman Speyer buildingโs tenants who can use its ZO building app to request studio services ranging from studio rentals to co-creation to full-service production. Other businesses nationwide can request services through the studio website. Albolene, Certain Dri, and ThermaCare are examples of national clients that have utilized... Read More
