Venice, CA-based Backyard director Rob Pritts drives it home in a cheeky new campaign for Top Flite and Dick’s Sporting Goods from Rochester NY-based advertising agency Martino Flynn. The two spot campaign features defeated golfers in various situations in need of a ball upgrade. It isn’t until a beautiful female golf attendant arrives with a cart full of Top Flites that they are rescued from their “nasty old balls."
Pritts made sure to handle the comedy of the spots in a subtle yet effective manner— and that meant no “winking” at the camera. Notes Pritts, "When you get scripts as funny as these, you want to do everything in your power to do them justice. With a dialogue-driven spot that depends on innuendo, it can be so easy to get carried away with the comedy, but thankfully both the agency and clients were excited to go with the understated approach. I think it paid off in the end." Pritts was on board through the final delivery, working closely with editor Lucas Spaulding to ensure that every comedic beat was on point.
