Dragon Song, the award-winning short film produced by the multi-talented singer, songwriter, author, and award-winning record producer, John Carter Cash, will be released worldwide on April 10, 2020. The 19-minute short film directed by David McClister that evolved from the initial concept of a music video will be available for streaming on YouTube via John Carter Cash’s channel (here). Filmed on location in Oregon and Tennessee, the fictional film is based on the aftermath of the civil war. Survivors Lamberic White and Spiney Shamblins remain lost in the ongoing chaos of a living hell. Lamberic, enraged by Spiney’s drunken abuse of his wife Veronica, responds with grim measures, leading to momentous consequence. Produced by John Carter Cash and April Kimbrell, the film features appearances by John’s wife and recording artist, Ana Cristina Cash, his son Joseph Cash, chart-topping singer-songwriter Jamey Johnson.
John Carter commented about the film, stating, “I wrote the song ‘Dragon Song’ in 1991 at the age of 21. It is about the nature of human darkness. The short film of the same name, set in 1875, delves into the inner evils of man, the destruction of lustful drunkenness, and the hope and possibility of redemption.”
Since October of 2019, Dragon Song has been premiering at film festivals around the United States, including at the 50th Anniversary Nashville Film Festival, New Filmmakers NY, The Lake Travis Film Festival, The Garden State Film Festival, as well as The Queens World Film Festival where Dragon Song was nominated for Best Director Narrative Short (Joseph Cash), The Sunny Side Up Film Festival where it won Best Supporting Actor in a Western Film (Joseph Cash) and The Annual International Wild Bunch Film Festival where it received eight nominations and scored Best Short Film, Best Cinematography – Short Film, Best Actor (John Carter Cash), Best Actress – Short Film (Ana Cristina Cash), and Best Supporting Actor – Short Film (Eric Hamilton).
The musical composition, “Dragon Song,” appears on John Carter Cash’s most recent studio album, We Must Believe In Magic. However, the version in the short film, is a unique recording and arrangement, only to be found in the film. Having written music for decades, John Carter continues to live inside a creative world reaching far beyond just music production. Cash is also known for being an accomplished author. His library of work includes three children’s books and two biographies about his parents’ legacy. Most recently, he added another genre to his portfolio with his first cookbook, The Cash and Carter Family Cookbook: Recipes and Recollections from Johnny and June’s Table. The cookbook is available wherever books are sold and shares the stories and recipes that flowed from Cash/Carter Family dinner table, as well as the memories and reminiscences of the musicians and film stars welcomed into their home.
Growing up among one of Country music’s most recognizable families, there’s no surprise that John Carter Cash would mature to become an accomplished and award-winning record producer. Having been a Producer for over 25 years now, he’s garnered six Grammy Awards and seven Grammy Nominations, and has production credits ranging from Loretta Lynn, Chris Cornell, Brooks & Dunn, Elvis Costello, Dr. Ralph Stanley, George Jones, Mavis Staples, Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow, Todd Snider, Norman and Nancy Blake, The Cedar Hill Refugees, Tim O'Brien, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Kris Kristofferson, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, Emmylou Harris, Earl and Randy Scruggs, Rosanne Cash, John Cowan, Rodney Crowell, Vince Gill, Tony Rice, John Prine to many more.
The grandson of Maybelle Carter and the only son from the marriage of John R Cash and June Carter Cash, he preserves the family legacy and is a caretaker to the heritage of his musical ancestors.

2024 AICP Awards Tour Concludes with Stops in Dallas and Chicago
The 2024 AICP Awards Tour concludes with stops in Dallas and Chicago this month as it wraps up its tour of cities across the U.S. The National Tour brought presentations, panels and screenings to marketers, advertising agencies, production and post production companies. The AICP Awards will be in Dallas on Thursday, November 14th, at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, followed by the Chicago event, set for Thursday, November 21st at The Old Post Office. Tickets are available now for both events at www.aicp.com. In Dallas, the program kicks off at 6:45 pm with a happy hour, followed by the screening and panel discussion at 7:30. The evening ends with a networking reception from 8:30 to 11:30. The Perot Museum of Nature and Science is located at 2201 N. Field Street in Dallas. Appearing in Dallas will be Abe Garcia, Chief Creative Officer, Dieste; Julia Melle, Director of Brand and Content, Southwest Airlines; and Isaac Pagán Muñoz, VP, Executive Creative Director of PepsiCo Foods. The panel will review selected winners from the suite of the AICP Awards programs, offering insights into what made them rise to the top of their respective categories and share their viewpoints on key trends in the industry. The Chicago stop starts at 6:00pm with a happy hour, followed by the presentation and screening at 7:00pm. A reception caps the event, starting at 8:00pm and concluding at 11:30pm.
