AvatarLabs has just won two 2008 D.M.A.C.S. (Digital Movie Advertising Creative Showcase) Awards, which were given to winners during ceremonies held Oct. 22 at the Directors Guild of America headquarters in Hollywood. AvatarLabs won the “Best Home Entertainment Rich Media Advertising” Award for its work on “Harold & Kumar: Escape from Guantanamo Bay,” and the “Best Theatrical Release Rich Media Advertising” Award for its work promoting “Pineapple Express” by creating a MySpace homepage takeover. Recently, at ceremonies in New York City, AvatarLabs won the “Best Homepage Takeover/Sponsorship” Award on behalf of client Walt Disney Pictures, in conjunction with its online promotion for the hit film “Wall-E” during the 2008 OMMA Media Awards. And additionally, AvatarLabs has also recently won four 2008 W3 Awards. These included a “Best in Show” for the company’s work on the “Prince Caspian” campaign, including a MySpace site, flash game and rich expanding ads promoting the film, a “Gold Award” for its work on the MySpace website promoting the film “Wall-E,” and two “Silver Awards” for the “WallโขE” and “Prince Caspian” microsites. Sanctioned by the International Academy of Visual Arts, the W3 Awards are the first major web competition to be accessible to the biggest agencies, the smallest firms, and everyone in between.
