Ataboy, the design and animation studio launched in 2011 by Vikkal Parikh, former Creative Director of redhead (Red Car), is excited to announce the addition of the talented Dave Rasura as a designer/director.
Rasura’s past posts include Senior Designer for Spontaneous and Mixed Media Director for Curious Pictures. While at Curious, he brought his passion for storytelling and character design to commercials, show pilots, show packages, music videos, and company redesigns. Rasura directed a mixture of live-action, design, motion-capture, stop-motion, 3D, and animation for clients like Comcast, Gillette, Google, Cartoon Network, Push Pops, Hotels.com, Cablevision, and AOL.
“I have known Dave for a long time. Through the years I have seen him grow and develop his style,” stated Parikh. “He is not only a versatile designer, but his animation skills combined with a quirky sense of character design make him a unique all around artist too. His cinematic approach to animation definitely makes him a stand-out.”
For his first project under the Ataboy banner, Rasura directed an animated video short for Delta out of Wieden + Kennedy NY. That was followed by a video for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, which will be featured on Virgin Airlines, and a piece for the United Nations that debuted at this June’s Rio+20 Earth Summit.
“I am proud to be partnering with Ataboy,” said Rasura. “After meeting Vikkal seven years ago when I moved to New York from Texas, I was able to not only start a friendship but to see what it takes to do great work. I am lucky to have a chance to work in the great environment he has created at Ataboy. It’s really going to take my work to the next level.”
