Delivers Real-Time, Multi-GPU Debayering of RED Files and Final Cut Pro X XML Integration
ASSIMILATE, the industry’s leading provider of DI and dailies digital workflow tools, announced today that its popular SCRATCH® and SCRATCH Lab® v8 have been updated to leverage the breakthrough graphics and CPU performance of the new Mac Pro.
Multi-GPU support for debayering of RED media
Support for the dual workstation GPUs in the Mac Pro gives SCRATCH and Lab users the ultimate in flexibility with debayering of R3D files from any RED cinematic camera without any additional hardware. Debayering RED 4K and 5K footage on the Mac Pro is now in real-time and at full resolution.
Optimized for multi-threading
SCRATCH and Lab have also been optimized to leverage the ultra-fast Intel Xeon E5 processors in the new Mac Pro. This optimization accelerates playback and rendering performance for CPU-driven video CODECs such as Apple’s ProRes.
SDI output via Thunderbolt 2
SCRATCH and Lab now supports SDI video and audio playback via the Blackmagic UltraStudio 4K and AJA Io 4k Thunderbolt 2 devices.
XML support for Final Cut Pro X
SCRATCH and Lab now support workflow integration with Final Cut Pro X systems via XML. SCRATCH and Lab will also support full conform and round-tripping for both Final Cut Pro X and Final Cut Pro 7.
“In the new 4K world, SCRATCH and Lab artists making feature films, television shows and commercials are used to pushing the boundaries of what current technology can deliver,” said Steve Bannerman, VP of Marketing at ASSIMILATE. “The new Mac Pro paired with Final Cut Pro X offers our customers a platform to take SCRATCH performance to new heights. The balanced approach among the dual AMD GPUs, the Intel Xeon E5 CPUs, and Thunderbolt 2 means that virtually everything in SCRATCH goes much faster. And for our artists, every increase in performance translates directly into dollars.”
