Aspen Shortsfest is currently accepting submissions of live-action, documentary and animation short films and videos for the 18th annual edition of its Oscarยฉ-qualifying international competition, which will take place April 1-5, 2009.
The final deadline for submissions is December 15, 2008, and the late deadline is December 31, 2008. Guidelines and the official entry form are available online at www.aspenfilm.org.
The 2009 Aspen Shortsfest has recently been recognized by both the National Endowment for the Arts and Colorado Council on the Arts, who have provided partial funding for this singular showcase for short filmmaking.

A jury of noted film professionals will award more than $20,000 in cash, plus other prizes, to winners in several categories, who then may also qualify for Academy Awardยฉ consideration. Highlights of the five-day event include public screenings, tributes, retrospectives, panels and workshops. A MasterWorks panel, famous industry-wide for its make up of high-profile guests, shares insights that contribute to the mentoring element of Shortsfest. Past panelists have included Jason Reitman and Daniel Dubiecki (Thank You for Smoking, Juno), Alexander Payne and Jim Taylor (Sideways), Julie Taymor (Frida), Paul Mazursky (Enemies: A Love Story), Bruce Beresford (Driving Miss Daisy), Frank Pierson (Dog Day Afternoon), Christopher Hampton (Dangerous Liaisons), and many others. Other special programs like Planet Cinema and Director Spotlight provide a more in-depth look at the artistry of a filmmaker, film genre or country.

2024 AICP Awards Tour Concludes with Stops in Dallas and Chicago
The 2024 AICP Awards Tour concludes with stops in Dallas and Chicago this month as it wraps up its tour of cities across the U.S. The National Tour brought presentations, panels and screenings to marketers, advertising agencies, production and post production companies. The AICP Awards will be in Dallas on Thursday, November 14th, at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, followed by the Chicago event, set for Thursday, November 21st at The Old Post Office. Tickets are available now for both events at www.aicp.com. In Dallas, the program kicks off at 6:45 pm with a happy hour, followed by the screening and panel discussion at 7:30. The evening ends with a networking reception from 8:30 to 11:30. The Perot Museum of Nature and Science is located at 2201 N. Field Street in Dallas.
