Timed to the valley's brilliant fall color, Aspen Film will present the 35th annual Aspen Filmfest, Sept. 26 through Oct. 1, screening films at Aspen's Wheeler Opera House and Isis Theatre as well as Carbondale's Crystal Theatre.
Aspen Film's flagship event, Filmfest will screen new releases, acclaimed documentaries and feature favorites from the international and US festival circuit. Audiences will have a chance to experience an eclectic range of comedies, dramas and topical documentaries, along with special film guests, who will be on hand to talk about their work. Fall launches the film industry's most important season, offering avid movie lovers access to some of the most buzzed about releases. Last year Filmfest audiences were among the first to see AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY, NEBRASKA, MANDELA: LONG WALK HOME, and LIKE FATHER LIKE SON, among others.
Filmfest shines a special spotlight on Colorado talent as it honors Academy Award-winning Denver-based documentarian Daniel Junge, as well as presents Alan Hick's award-winning KEEP ON KEEPIN' ON (Radius/TWC), an inspiring portrait of friendship and music produced by Quincy Jones and Boulder-based Paula DuPre' Pesman.
The full Aspen Filmfest program will be announced online Labor Day, Sept 1. Aspen Film REEL PEOPLE member ticket pre-sales begin Sept. 5. Tickets to the general public go on sale Sept. 9. Tickets for all Aspen and Carbondale shows are available through the Wheeler Opera House Box Office (970-920-5770 or www.aspenshowtix.com) for all shows; tickets for Carbondale shows are also available through Boomerang Coffee, located at Mountain View Plaza, 1150 Highway 133 in Carbondale.
