Archion Technologies, a world leader in high performance shared media storage, and one of the newest members of NewTek's Developer Network, has embraced NewTek's open Network Device Interface (NDI(tm)) standard for IP-based production workflows. The announcement was made by Reuben Lima, CEO/Founder, Archion.
The company's EditStor Velo (with NDI enabled) is the first network storage system recognizable as a source by NDI-enabled devices, as well as other systems connected to a standard Ethernet local area network. This exponentially increases the number of video sources available for live production.
Archion's EditStor system with NDI combines the simplicity, interoperability and cost effectiveness of network attached storage (NAS) with the intelligence and efficiency of IP-based broadcasting. With this development, broadcasters can now easily connect up their TriCaster with industry leading storage, with the added benefit of easing share of video and audio on an IP based network. All NDI devices now are able to discover and mount EditStor volumes automatically, with unprecedented access to file based video and audio on an IP based switching system.
"Archion has always led the industry with intelligent shared media storage solutions, and we are proud to be the first storage manufacturer to adopt NDI in collaboration with the NewTek team," said James Tucci, Archion's CTO. "By becoming a member of the NewTek Developer Network and completing NDI integration, broadcast professionals using NewTek TriCaster can now seamlessly deploy EditStor Velo, and enjoy how quickly the storage will be discovered and ready for use."
Adds Michael Kornet, Executive Vice President of Business Development for NewTek, "We are confident that IP workflows will revolutionize video production – and reliable shared storage is a critical component. Known for their high performance and simple to use storage, Archion's18 years of experience are highly valued both at NewTek and within the industry. By Archion enthusiastically embracing NDI, best-of-breed products like EditStor Velo will help make NDI the most widely adopted IP standard on the market, and one that's available for a variety of customers today."
NDI is now available as a royalty free software developer kit (SDK) for any company looking to establish IP workflows within their organization, or in production tools and systems they manufacture. For more information on NDI, visit http://newtek.com/ndi
