After three weeks and nearly 1,000 submissions from creative minds around the world, The International ANDY Awards announced today that five concepts from the “Call for Entries” challenge have been shortlisted. The individuals behind the selected work comprise a diverse group of creative talent that includes copywriters, art directors, musicians and designers from both the U.S. coasts, Denver, Co. and as far reaching as Brazil.
The online effort, hosted by Victors & Spoils’ digital platform “Squirrel Fight,” for one month, invited people from around the world to submit original, creative concepts promoting the The 2011 International Awards call for entries. The person behind the chosen entry will be awarded the last remaining seat on next year’s prestigious ANDY Awards Jury. That announcement will be forthcoming.
In the meantime, the 2011 International Awards is accepting your submissions for the best work of the year. The first deadline is Friday, November 19th. For more details please visit http://andyawards.com.
About the people behind the top five entries:
Christopher Walker
Christopher Walker is an art director from Houston, Texas, currently working at Leo Burnett Chicago. He works alongside his writer Alan Shen, and designer Luke Williams who all worked together on The International ANDY Awards call for entries competition.
Ricky Lambert
Ricky Lambert is a young copywriter out of Denver, Colorado. He graduated last May from the University of Colorado’s ad program. As a student, he was awarded a One Show Silver Pencil, was featured in CMYK magazine as one of their Top 100 New Creatives of 2010 and also received the Leo Burnett grant. Though he has had a lot of success and recognition as a student, he is still seeking his first real ad job and is currently working as a flower deliveryman in downtown Denver.
Bryce Hooton
Bryce is a word nerd with an idea fetish. Some might call it a copywriter. He grew up on a small ranch in Northern California and moved to San Francisco for college, where he attended Academy of Art University, followed by Miami Ad School. Through advertising, Bryce has lived in London, New York City, Boulder and Denver, which has proved to be invaluable in both career and life experience. Lately, Victors & Spoils has provided a great outlet for him to stay creatively sharp and to create the kind of ideas he’d like to see in the world.
Daniel del Toro
Daniel Del Toro & Adriana Leite are creative duo Funfair, working out of Sรฃo Paulo, Brazil. Alumni of Pratt Institute and Miami Ad School. Currently holding 3+ years of experience spread across Dallas, Brasรญlia, NYC, Boulder, LA, and Sรฃo Paulo. Clients under their belt include Volkswagen, Burger King, Best Buy, Shimano, Santander, Antarctica, Fox Channel, Tide, and Fiber One. If there is one thing they crave the most, pรฃo de queijos.
Justin Gilman
Justin is from America. Specifically, Baltimore, MD. There he studied design at the Maryland Institute College of Art. He’s currently in the process of pursuing his musical passions with his band, Diamond. And, he may or may not be available for proms, Bar Mitzvahs and baby showers. Justin collaborated with Jyn Yi (AD) and Michael Williams (CW) on the project. They are a scrappy group of creatives from Leo Burnett’s Energy Pool. When not doing their part to turn the gears of the economy, they are hard at work making dreams come true.
