The Association of Music Producers (AMP), in affiliation with Stillwell Partners, has announced the launch of the first-ever awards event in the US recognizing excellence in music for advertising, branding and media. The AMP Awards for Music and Sound will be held exclusively as a part of Creative Week in New York City on May 7, 2013. The venue for the event will be 82 Mercer Street, in Greenwich Village. Deadline for submitting entries is March 15, 2013.
The AMP Awards will honor the brands and music creators whose sonic achievements—in song, original score and sound design—have left an indelible mark on our consciousness. More importantly, they’ve helped create a defining, lasting bond with consumers and underscore the importance of sound in any broadcast communication.

Taking center stage during Creative Week – which includes the One Show Festival and other advertising-related events – the AMP Awards will be curated and judged by the AMP membership in association with professionals from the music and marketing industry universe, ranging from agencies and brands to record labels and publishers.
Heading up the AMP Awards Advisory Board is Honorary Chair Josh Rabinowitz of Grey Worldwide. Also on the board are Jeannette Perez of Sony Music Group; Ed Razzano of BMG/Chrysalis and Mark Huffman of P&G. The AMP Awards Founders Committee includes former AMP Presidents Lyle Greenfield of Bang Music and Jeff Rosner of Color; Matt Miller, President and CEO of AICP; and Larry Pecorella, current AMP National Board President and Founder & Creative Director of Comma Music. Acting in a consulting capacity is Keith Darcy of Songs Music Publishing.
Honorees will include outstanding contemporary works in original songs and underscores, adaptations, licensed songs, sound design and more. Categories include Best Original Song, Best Original Score, Outstanding Adaptation/Arrangement, Best Use of a Licensed Song, Best Sound Design, Most Effective Use of Music in a Campaign, Best Use of Music for a Film or Game Promo/Trailer, Best Use of Music / Sound for Web or Interactive Branding and Outstanding Mix.
A crucial part of the AMP Awards program will be establishment of an AMP Hall of Fame, honoring legendary brands and advertisers that have demonstrated a profound understanding and appreciation of the importance of music in telling their stories. In this inaugural year, representatives from The Coca Cola Company and McDonald’s will be on hand to accept their honors as the first entrants to the AMP Hall of Fame.
The evening’s program will run from 7 to 11 PM and include live musical performances, DJ, the AMP Awards presentations, passed hors d’oeuvres and a very open bar. In short, it will definitely be Creative Week’s loudest party!
