The Amazon Original Series Chronicles the Making of the 10th Installment of the Record-Breaking Gymkhana Film Series
Amazon announced it has greenlit The Gymkhana Files, an Amazon Original Unscripted Series featuring famed motorsports star and entrepreneur Ken Block and the making of Gymkhana 10, the recently-announced tenth installment of his award-winning, record-breaking Gymkhana Film series. The eight-episode series will be an exclusive look behind the filming, the struggles and the personalities that go into making of one of the biggest viral campaigns of all time, along with the untold stories and never-before-seen footage from Block’s previous nine films.
Block is a professional rally driver with Hoonigan Racing Division, is one of the co-founders of Hoonigan and Hoonigan Media Machine, and was also one of the co-founders of DC Shoes. His Gymkhana series has amassed over 500 million views, was named as one of the “Top 10 Viral Video Advertisements of All Time” by AdAge and has won awards including One Show Interactive Gold Pencils, Streamys and Webbys.
“The inner workings of the wildly popular Gymkhana Film series have long been a mystery to its large and rabid fan base, and we are thrilled to provide Amazon Prime members worldwide with an exclusive look into the making of Gymkhana 10,” said Heather Schuster, Head of Unscripted, Amazon Originals. “Ken and the Hoonigan team will take viewers on a wild ride unlike anything they’ve seen before.”
"I'm really excited to be working on GymkhanaTEN and I’m stoked that Pennzoil was able to come in and support us getting a teaser video out today to help announce the video,” said Block. “I’m also legitimately excited to be able to announce that I’m collaborating with Amazon Prime Video on The Gymkhana Files at the same time. I've always taken great pride at being on the leading edge of creating content, as well as viral marketing and in figuring out the best ways to get that content into the hands of fans and consumers. Amazon is very similar in their approach to what they've done over the years and I think that together we're going to create some amazing programming that really gives fans and viewers insight into not just my world, but the inner workings of my Gymkhana films and at the end of it all, the fans get to watch GymkhanaTEN during the final episode."
The series is created and executive produced by Block, Brian Scotto and Gil Marsden, and produced by Hoonigan Media Machine. Marsden is the showrunner.
Prime members will be able to stream the series exclusively via the Amazon Prime Video app for TVs, connected devices including Fire TV, mobile devices and online. Members can also download the series to mobile devices for offline viewing at no additional cost to their membership. The series will be a global release and available on PrimeVideo.com for Prime Video members in more than 200 countries and territories.
