Alkemy X owner, President and CEO Justin B. Wineburgh is among 25 finalists—selected from a field of hundreds of nominees—for the Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2019 Award in Greater Philadelphia. Considered one of the most prestigious business awards programs in the U.S., the program recognizes entrepreneurs and leaders of high-growth companies who are excelling in areas such as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities, while also transforming our world.
Wineburgh was identified for his work in transforming Philadelphia-headquartered Alkemy X into a national and international powerhouse for original content, advertising and branded media. While bolstering its Philadelphia presence, he has increased its footprint in New York, Los Angeles and Amsterdam, and expanded its highly-regarded visual effects and post-production operations. Wineburgh has also been aggressively hiring top-tier talent with recent arrivals including former HGTV programming exec Andy Singer, former TruTV/Court TV development executive Glen Freyer and internationally known Executive Creative Director Nicholas Weigel, while also adding numerous award-winning commercial directors to the company’s roster, including Jonathan Yi and Rob Boocheck.
Wineburgh joined Alkemy X as president and CEO in 2016, having previously served as its outside counsel. He became sole shareholder last year. Since then, he has led the company on a string of impressive successes. The company developed the critically- and popularly-acclaimed reality special Drag Me Down the Aisle for TLC and the lifestyle series The 212 for Fuse. It also completed multiple new seasons of Unique Rides for Velocity, while creating and developing new shows for Food Network, the network for the company’s long running hits, Dinner: Impossible and Restaurant: Impossible.
With Wineburgh at the helm, Alkemy X has significantly expanded its roster of clients, creating commercials and branded media for Google, Samsung, Comcast, Amazon, Bud Light, Geico, Verizon, IBM and other leading networks and companies. Its visual effects team has also extended its reach in film and television, providing groundbreaking visuals for hit shows including The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Fear the Walking Dead, High Maintenance, Mr. Mercedes, Mr. Robot, Blindspot, Power and more.
Wineburgh has pushed Alkemy X to up its creative game. The company’s live-action, design and animation work features regularly in global awards competitions. Earlier this year, it took home six awards in the Advertising Association of America’s Philly Ad Club 2019 ADDY competition, including Best of Show for The Plastic Ocean, a breathtaking animated public service video for the nonprofit Sea Shepherd. The project also ranked among Shoot Magazine’s Top Ten Most Watched Spots of 2018. Its commercial LoveShare for Virginia Tourism also won an ADDY and was named Spot of the Week by Shoot. Reframe This Space, an integrated campaign for Samsung, has been honored at AME and Cynopsis awards.
“Faced with a media landscape that is changing every day, Alkemy X must constantly evolve and extend its vision for the future,” says Wineburgh. “We will continue to draw on our core values and leverage the incredible depth of our talented content creators and storytellers to remain leaders in our industry and be the best in the business.”
