On August 25, in Los Angeles, filmmaker Alesia Glidewell became the eighth  Superlounge Diversity Award winner to attend Commercial Directing Bootcamp. Superlounge partner/director Jordan Brady launched the Commercial Directing Bootcamp in 2015, and has since held sold-out seminars in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and Dallas. Glidewell joins previous Diversity Award-winners Maya Albanese, Kryzz Gautier, Alex Messianu, Bonnie McFarlane, Jody Lauren Miller, Monty Marsh and Kristyna Archer. Several of these Bootcamp alums have been in the news of late: Albanese, Gautier and Marsh were among 6 directors selected to participate in the recent CDDP showcase, as part of that organization’s inaugural program. Albanese recently signed with Brother, and Gautier joined Above+Beyond Films.

“Years ago, when I started in production, the spot world seemed so out of reach, especially if I wanted to direct,” said Glidewell, a PGA new media producer, creator and freelance director. “Jordan is so generous with his insight and genuinely cares about each student’s goals. was hilarious too and a wealth of great advice and info. I could have stayed for days.”

“When I saw Alesia’s work as a director, for groups like mitú (‘creating culturally relevant stories for the 200% community - 100% American, 100% Latino’), I knew she was destined for a career in commercials,” said Brady. “Then, she arrived at Bootcamp with this incredible energy and enthusiasm, and I got a sense of how huge that career is going to be.”

Glidewell worked as a Creative EP for Sony Music’s Astronauts Wanted and showran the #1 organically viewed branded beauty channel on Youtube for Studio71, garnering over half a million subscribers and 70mm+ views over the course of two years. She has created over a dozen original, unscripted and scripted digital series packaged with top tier social media influencers such as Colleen Ballinger (Miranda Sings) and Lilly Singh (iisuperwomani) and produced the 2016 Streamy winning feature A Trip to Unicorn Island. She looks forward to expanding her horizons as a director in the commercial arena.

“The bootcamp was incredible!” Glidewell concluded. “I am so fired up and inspired by everything I learned that I'm literally chomping at the bit to test out every single tip and trick.”
