Academy award® winner Alejandro Amenábar (The Sea Inside, The Others) has wrapped principal photography on REGRESSION. The film, based on Amenabar´s original screenplay is produced by MOD Entertainment, MOD Producciones, Himenóptero, First Generation Films and Telefónica Studios in association with FilmNation Entertainment, with the participation of Telefilm Canada and in collaboration with Mediaset España. TWC-Dimension will distribute the film in the United States.
Academy Award® nominee Ethan Hawke (Before Midnight, Training Day) and Emma Watson (Noah, Harry Potter) star in the film. REGRESSION sees the return of Amenábar to genre, where he previously had great success with Dimension Films' The Others, which grossed over $200 million worldwide.
Synopsis
Minnesota, 1990. Detective Bruce Kenner (Ethan Hawke) investigates the case of young Angela (Emma Watson), who accuses her father, John Gray (David Dencik), of an unspeakable crime. When John unexpectedly and without recollection admits guilt, renowned psychologist Dr. Raines (David Thewlis) is brought in to help him relive his memories and what they discover unmasks a horrifying nationwide mystery.
REGRESSION also stars David Thewlis (The Fifth Estate, Harry Potter), David Dencik (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo) , Dale Dickey (Winter´s Bone, True Blood), Lothaire Bluteau (The Tudors) and Devon Bostick (Diary of a Wimpy Kid).
The creative team includes production designer Carol Spier (Pacific Rim, Eastern Promises), director of photography Daniel Aranyó (The last days), costume designer Sonia Grande (The Others, Midnight in Paris), casting directors Jina Jay (The Others, The Grand Budapest hotel) and VFX supervisor Felix Bergés (The impossible, Agora).
REGRESSION is a Spanish-Canadian coproduction produced by MOD´s Fernando Bovaira (The Others, Agora, The Sea Inside, Biutiful), Himenóptero´s Alejandro Amenabar (Agora, The Sea Inside) and First Generation Films' Christina Piovesan (Life, The Whistleblower). The film will be released in the US by TWC-Dimension on August 28th 2015. FilmNation Entertainment is handling international sales for all territories outside the US, Spain and Canadá. REGRESSION filmed on location in Toronto.

Created in 1995 by Alejandro Amenábar to produce his own short films, Himenóptero produced Agora presented at Cannes Film Festival and The Sea Inside which won the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar in 2005.
