Foley artists from Alchemy Post Sound will discuss their work in creating sound for feature films and television at NAB and AES events this week in New York.
On October 18th at the 143rd AES Convention, Alchemy Post co-founder and Foley artist Leslie Bloome will chair a panel discussion entitled “The Art & Science of Foley.” Joining him will be Alchemy Foley mixer Ryan Collison and Foley artist Joanna Fang. The Emmy-winning team will describe how they create organic sounds from technical and artistic perspectives, and reveal their trade secrets for integrating Foley into the project’s soundscape. The session begins at 2:00 p.m. in room 1E14 of the Jacob Javits Convention Center.
On October 19th at NAB Show New York, Bloome will take part in a panel discussion on sound production for Good Time, filmmaker duo Bennie and Josh Safdie’s critically-acclaimed independent feature, a winner of the Best Soundtrack Award at this year’s 2017 Cannes Film Festival. Bloome and fellow panelists Sound Supervisor Ryan M. Price and Sound Designer/Re-Recording Mixer Evan Mangiamele will discuss how they helped create the gritty environment inhabited by the film's low-life characters through a blend of ghostly, minimalist electronica and expertly crafted sound effects. The session is slated for 12:30 p.m. in Create FWD Stage 3 in the Jacob Javits Convention Center.
