Matt Miller, President and CEO of the Association of Independent Commercial Producers (AICP) today announced that T.K. Knowles, Executive Producer/Managing Partner of Bob Industries, will serve as the Chairman of the 2010 AICP Show, The Art & Technique of the American Commercial. The Show debuts in June at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City.
“I’m extremely honored to be chairing the AICP Show,” said Knowles. “It’s an important advertising showcase, and it’s really exciting to be a part of crafting how it will appear, especially as the business continues to evolve.”
“T.K.’s enthusiasm, expertise and commitment to creativity are all invaluable assets to the Show,” said Miller. “His knowledge and experience make him a great fit in leading our Show Committee and helping shape the Show as it continues to expand.”
The Show, established in 1992, is the most important advertising showcase in the U.S. Each year, the best advertising appearing in the moving image is honored and made part of the archive of the Department of Film at MoMA. In 2007, The Next Awards became a featured presentation of the Show, highlighting the winners of the Next categories, which honor advertising in the motion image that appears outside of traditional channels.
As Chairman, Knowles oversees the 31-member Show Committee, which is responsible for promoting the Show and encouraging entries; facilitating the judging process and selection of judges; and reviewing the entry process and category definitions. Knowles will also spearhead the selection of companies providing editorial, graphics and music to the Show reel. He serves on the Show’s Board of Governors, which is the final arbiter, charged with ensuring the quality of the Show and adherence to its rules.
Knowles started in the production business as a PA when he was 13 years old. He helped found Bob Industries in 1998. Previously, he was an Executive Producer at Reactor Films, and before that he helped start Satellite Films’ Commercial Division as their Sales Rep. He has produced commercials for top-tier marketers, including Volkswagen, Coca-Cola, Apple, Nike, ESPN and the Gap, to name a few. Bob Industries has been named one of the top production companies in the U.S. by Boards, Creativity, and SHOOT.
