Matt Miller, President and CEO of the Association of Independent Commercial Producers (AICP), announced the agenda for the 2010 <a href="http://(www.aicp.com)“>AICP Conference, scheduled to take place October 26th in New York at The TimesCenter. Kicking off the day will be a keynote address by Jeff Goodby, Co-Chairman and Co-Founder of Goodby, Silverstein & Partners.
“This full-day event offers an opportunity to bring together producers, agencies and marketers to discuss the state of today’s advertising landscape,” said Miller. “The goal of the day is to offer the audience โ and the industry โ insights and solutions into some of the most pressing issues facing the business, as well as explore the creative landscape.”
Programming for the event was crafted by a blue-ribbon committee including Committee Chair, Jerry Solomon of Epoch Films; Dustin Callif of Tool of North America; Rich Carter of GARTNER (who will serve as Master of Ceremonies at the event); Robert Fernandez of Moxie Pictures; Charlie McBrearty of Shortlist Management; and Ed Ulbrich of Mothership and EVP, Digital Domain.
In addition to his keynote, Goodby will moderate a discussion called “The Leap” with Ty Montague of the recently launched Co.: and Gerry Graf of the newly formed Barton F. Graf 9000 about their decisions to leave the big agency world and start new ventures.
Procurement is also on the agenda, with the ANA’s Bill Duggan presenting results from the organization’s 2010 study called “Procurement: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.” Additionally, there will be a panel discussion called “Procurement: The New Rule Book โ Like It Or Not.” Appearing on the panel, which explores the procurement process, purchasing strategies of clients and the impact on relationships and the creative process, will be moderator Jerry Solomon, Managing Partner of Epoch Films; James Akers, Senior Director, World Procurement, Pfizer; Jillian Gibbs, Founder/CEO of APR; Valerie Petrusson, Managing Director, Beast; and Chris Rossiter, EVP, Director of Production at Leo Burnett, Chicago.
Once down-played, and spoken of in hushed tones, agencies are developing in-house production and post capabilities while production companies are collaborating directly with clients. This phenomenon will be explored in the panel “Who’s Zooming Who: In-house Agency Production and Production Companies Going ‘Client Direct’,” which features moderator David Rolfe, Director of Integrated Production at Crispin Porter+Bogusky; Vin Farrell, VP, Head of Production, R/GA Digital Studios; Steve Humble, Managing Director, Integrated Production, The Martin Agency; Tommy Means, Founding Partner/Director, Mekanism; and Ed Ulbrich, Founder/President, Mothersip.
“Creative Trends in Mobile Advertising” will focus on creating content for the rapidly changing mobile landscape. On the panel will be: moderator Rick Mathieson of Branding Unbound; Derek Handley, Founder/CEO of Hyperfactory; Colin Nagy, Executive Director of Earned Media, The Barbarian Group; Michal Shapira, Executive Director of Creative Services and CND Studio, Conde Nast Digital; and Erin Wilson, Specialist Sales Executive, Microsoft Mobile Media.
“An Inside Look At Digital Creative Models” examines the creative process as it applies to interactive production. The panel features moderator Michael Lebowitz, Founder/CEO, Big Spaceship; Dustin Callif, Executive Producer, Digital, Tool of North America; Michael Ferdman, Co-Founder/President, Firstborn, and Mike Geiger, Chief Digital Officer, Goodby Silverstein & Partners.
“Selling Creativity” examines the ways in which commercial production executives are leveraging social media, digital assets, and tried and true methods to keep their companies and talent top of mind. On the panel will be: moderator Charlie McBrearty, Owner/Broadcast & Digital Talent Management, Shortlist Management; Kerstin Emhoff, Co-Founder/Executive Producer, PRETTYBIRD; Michael Karbelnikoff, Owner/Director, HELLO; Virginia Scripps, President, Press Kitchen; and Jonathan Shipman, EVP/Director of Production, McCann Erickson.
In a rapid-fire discussion, “Lawyers On The Clock: 12 Legal Issues You Need To Know,” examines legal issues facing production and advertising.
