The Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) today announced its first, second and third place winners for The 2016 Creativity Awards.

The annual competition allows AFCI film commission and industry affiliate members an opportunity to competitively showcase the marketing campaigns they use to attract film productions to their respective territories around the globe.

The AFCI partnered with Montana based The Audience Awards to host the global competition. Submission entries were received from June 6 - July 31 and contest voting occurred August 2 – 19.

The Creativity Awards received nearly 200 entries from 33 AFCI film commission and industry affiliate members. 7,516 total votes were cast in the best-in-show marketing competition.

The West Virginia Film Office, Greater Ft. Lauderdale Office of Film, Music and Entertainment for Broward County and Film Commission Chile are the top 3 nominees competing for the contest’s highest honor, The Best Overall Campaign.

Only one film commission will be awarded the contest’s top honor as selected by an independent jury of film and TV professionals assembled by the AFCI that includes:

  • Marjorie Galas, Editor, Variety 411 Los Angeles
  • Elliot Kotek, Editor-In-Chief, Beyond Cinema Magazine
  • Larry Laboe, Executive Director, NewFilmmakers Los Angeles
  • Ivana Massetti, Founder, Women Occupy Hollywood
  • Kent Matsuoka, Locations Manager and Producer

The AFCI will announce the Best Overall Campaign winner and present all individual category winners at its 40th annual Cineposium conference in Atlanta, Georgia, September 24, 2016.
