It’s the biggest date in professional football, the biggest day of televised sports and the most anticipated night in advertising. While Pittsburgh and Green Bay battle it out in Dallas, consumers across the country will weigh in on the major brands battling for the coveted top position in the annual ADBOWLยฎ โ and pick the big game’s advertising winner.
ADBOWLยฎ is the original online, real-time website that tracks what consumers think of the multimillion dollar ads that air during the year’s biggest television event. Viewers vote online or on their iPhone, letting advertisers know if they produced a “touchdown” or a “fumble,” with the results announced just after midnight, the night of the game. McKee Wallwork Cleveland, the award-winning, integrated marketing company, has been bringing ADBOWLยฎ to sports (and advertising) fans since it first launched www.ADBOWL.com in 2001.
“This game is the only broadcast when people tune in for the ads,” said Steve McKee, president of McKee Wallwork Cleveland and author of “When Growth Stalls: How It Happens, Why You’re Stuck & What to Do About It” (Jossey-Bass, 2009). “Many brands make a huge investment in an effort to guarantee that their ads make the right connection to this captive–and captivated–crowd.”
“Since the launch of ADBOWLยฎ in 2001,” McKee says, “we’ve watched the fascination with high stakes advertising take hold of the nation and not let go.
Once we added the iPhone app to the mix, we made it easier than ever for people to vote — from the comfort of their easy chair or the middle of a party.”
On Sunday, February 6, viewers can visit www.ADBOWL.com or use the free ADBOWLยฎ app and rate commercials on a scale between one and five. A complete listing of the results, including a breakdown of winners as selected by gender and age group, will be posted on the site and accessible on the app between midnight and 1 a.m. Eastern Standard Time on February 7th.
Registration is now open on the ADBOWLยฎ website. The free ADBOWLยฎ app is available through iTunes, and ADBOWLยฎ can be found on Facebook (www.Facebook.com/ADBOWL) and Twitter (www.Twitter.com/@ADBOWL11).
The following is a list of ADBOWLยฎ voters’ favorite ads from the past five years:
2010 โ Snickers “You’re Not You”
2009 โ Bridgestone’s “Taters”
2008 โ Budweiser’s “Clydesdale Team”
2007 โ Bud Light’s “Rock, Paper, Scissors”
2006 โ Bud Light’s “Hidden Fridge”
Last year was the second time since FedEx’s 2003 “Castaway” spot that a non-beer ad topped the leader board. Will the king of beer make a triumphant return to the throne in 2010? You be the judge at www.ADBOWL.com or with the ADBOWLยฎ App.
Agency principals are available to provide insights, commentary and analysis before, during and after the game.
