Herwig Maurer Joins Star Roster With "World Class" Reel
Academy Awardยฎ nominated sound artist Herwig Maurer, recognized for his work on the film “Apocalypto,” has signed with LA-based music house Visual Music. His unique sensibilities have attracted the film and TV worlds where he has created sound design and atmospheric soundscapes for major motion pictures such as “Zombieland,” “Passion of the Christ,” “Hostel,” “Easy A,” “Secretariat” and many others.
“Adding a world class sound painter like Herwig,” says Visual Music Creative Director Tom Seufert, “is a perfect sonic fit with our roster of star composers John Swihart, Bear McCreary and Transcenders.” Maurer’s signing comes on the heels of recent Visual Music signings including Taang! Records and KCRW Discovery Big Moves.
Austrian born Herwig Maurer is a classic renaissance man, whose eclectic career continues to morph and transform across a wide range of disciplines. After fronting a punk band in his hometown Salzburg and releasing a self-produced album at age 16, Maurer ventured further into the world of production and industrial sound. Upon his move to the US in the 90’s, he released numerous electronic and techno records on international as well as US labels while flunking his final piano exam at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Extensive studies in metaphysics and alternative philosophies found expression in Herwig’s soundscapes, music as well as his visual art. He’s an accomplished painter and photographer, exhibiting in the So Cal area and currently hosting underground art shows at his own Pacific N3xus Gallery in Venice Beach.

A&Gโs New Third Space Studios Fills A Community Gap
A&G's (Allen & Gerritsen) new Third Space Studios is not just a full-service production offering for the creative agency. It's filling a gap in the community by making a complete video and production facility (live-action studio, production extension, editorial & motion, and audio services for podcasting, voice-over and online audio) available to all. Larger organizations like Blue Cross Blue Shield Massachusetts and Meet Boston, individuals like creators and collaborators, and nonprofits like the Boston Symphony Orchestra and The Wonderfund are already accessing both the space and the affordable creative and production support that comes with it. The Wonderfund has even tapped the studio for an entire brand relaunch.ย The studio is an extension of A&Gโs Third Space, a new concept the agency opened in Boston and Philadelphia last year to give employees, clients, creators, and even startup incubators (Boston currently has two) a place to gather, dream, and innovate in comfortable surroundings. Located inside its Boston location (125 High Street), Third Space Studios is available to the Tishman Speyer buildingโs tenants who can use its ZO building app to request studio services ranging from studio rentals to co-creation to full-service production. Other businesses nationwide can request services through the studio website. Albolene, Certain Dri, and ThermaCare are examples of national clients that have utilized... Read More
