Angenieux‘s Optimo PL mount zoom lenses, known for their exceptional quality and performance, were used in the production of two of this year’s Academy Award® nominated films. Production of the 35mm film “The Fighter,” nominated for seven Academy Awards®, was shot with the Angenieux Optimo 28-76mm lens and the large format digital cinema production of “Winter’s Bone,” nominated for four Academy Awards, was shot with the Optimo 24-290mm lens and the 15-40mm lens.
“We are extremely proud to be associated with some of the industry’s most recognized films,” said Eva Paryzka, Sales Manager, Cinema Products, Thales Angenieux. “The selection of Angenieux lenses by the world’s top cinematographers is a testament to the quality and performance of our lenses.”
The Angenieux Optimo T2.8 24-290mm zoom lens used on the production of “Winter’s Bone” has graced the sets of thousands of productions worldwide. It offers the most usable focal range available on the market and is suitable for a variety of shooting environments. Its functionality is matched with superior levels of optical performance across its entire zoom range as well as impressive contrast and color reproduction. The design of the Optimo 24-290mm now features over 70 precise focus marks, making focus pulling easier for camera assistants.
Also used on “Winter’s Bone” was the Optimo 15-40mm lens. Weighing only 4.2 pounds, the Optimo 15-40mm has an extremely fast aperture of T2.6 providing a very shallow depth of field and shooting ability across a vast lighting range. The lens features mechanics designed for precision and durability and incorporates an exclusive optical design to avoid breathing and ramping.
“The Fighter” was lensed with the Optimo 28-76mm, which like its sister 15-40mm zoom lens, features an extremely fast T2.6 aperture, lightweight characteristics and award winning design. Both lenses are zooms of choice for steadicam and hand-held work and seamlessly intercut between the entire Optimo zoom line as well as primes lenses.
