Accomplished Creative Director to Provide New York Connection
Expanding its reach into Gotham with one of New York’s most respected creative directors, BE the Creative Source has tapped Aaron King as Partner and Executive Producer, it was announced today by company founder, Jeff Boortz. The award winning editor/designer/director joins Boortz with a 25-year history of creating compelling messages for television.
King, who has held top posts for creative powerhouses such as Respect, Joyride, Pure and Pittard Sullivan, is based in New York and will be instrumental in representing Be The Creative Source’s roster to the city’s networks, agencies and production companies.
BE the Creative Source is a newly-launched advertising, promotion, design, and interactive representation company with a client roster that already includes Denver-based creative production company Impossible TV, international creative network United Senses and digital creative boutique Neo-Pangea.
“With Aaron joining the company, this move takes us one step closer to covering all the important media hubs,” said Boortz. “Aaron is a veteran of the New York media scene and has built up impeccable connections, and we look forward to leveraging his expertise on behalf of our growing client base.”
Most recently, King was Creative Director for Joyride Creative, where he not only rebranded the company itself (was previously known as Blue Room), but also led the team in rebranding efforts for H2 and LMN for A+E Networks. While at Joyride, King creative directed ESPN’s promo for “The Open,” as well as promo packages for the network’s college basketball coverage.
Between 2003 and 2008, King was instrumental in building PURE into a commercial visual effects and entertainment design company. As Executive Creative Director, he paired top level visual effects with innovative creative communications to grow the hot shop’s diverse client base within a few short years. Fruitful collaborations included entertainment clients HBO, Showtime, SyFy and MTV, as well as globally recognized brands like Kmart, BMW and Garnier.
For the past 12 years, King also owned and served as Creative Director of New York’s Respect Design. During this time, he successfully managed innovative design and live-action direction for advertising, promotion and media. He also consulted with multi-million dollar companies and agencies in varied fields of network branding, visual effects and print design. Highlights include designing/directing main titles for the feature film “Nobel Son” and the Showtime series “Barbershop.”
King, who got his start as a creative director/designer for Pittard Sullivan, has garnered numerous accolades over the years, his work recognized by BDA Gold, POST Magazine, Creativity, CG Focus, Stash, Brandweek, Suncoast Emmy® and New York Festival, among others.

“Ǝvolution” Comes Full Circle At The Chelsea Film Festival
The Chelsea Film Festival, running from October 16th through October 20th, 2024, at Regal Cinemas here in Union Square, is set to host the East Coast premiere of Ǝvolution, a thought-provoking experimental micro-short film that proves big ideas can come in small packages and in perfect circles.
In just 1 minute 16 seconds, this cinematic gem by Award-Winning Director Romina Schwedler, with original music by Argentine Composer Ignacio Montoya Carlotto, explores a cycle as old as time: life leads to progress, progress leads to destruction, and destruction, well, leads back to life. But is this vicious circle unbreakable? Ǝvolution suggests the answer is yes, unless we decide to open our eyes.
Inspired by the overwhelming number of recent events that threaten human existence, Ǝvolution, possibly the shortest film in this 12th edition of the festival, plays out entirely through the symbolism of circles, cleverly illustrating —in the blink of an eye— the repeating patterns of history, and confronting viewers with the uncomfortable truth that our so-called “progress” may, in fact, be guiding us to our own ruin.Premiering at the Regal 14 Union Square, New York City, on October 18, 2024, at 11 a.m., Romina Schwedler's micro-short, featuring Leah Young with cinematography by Alan J. Carmona, will be sure to spark conversations longer than the film itself! Forcing viewers to reconsider the true meaning of evolution, not just as a biological process, but as a reflection of our collective journey as humans.
With a string of festival appearances across the globe, including CineGlobe at CERN (Switzerland/France), Oscar®... Read More
