Four out of the five movies to earn Golden Globe best picture nominations this year are based on true stories— Foxcatcher, The Imitation Game, The Theory of Everything and Selma. The odd man out is Boyhood, Richard Linklater’s story of a boy growing up, filmed over 12 years.
The movies’ four actors, Steve Carell, Benedict Cumberbatch, David Oyolo and Eddie Redmayne will vie for the best dramatic actor Golden Globe, along with the odd man out, Jake Gyllenhaal, who was nominated for for Nightcrawler.
Actresses nominated in the best drama category are Jennifer Aniston (Cake), Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything), Julianne Moore (Still Alice) Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) and Reese Withersponn (Wild
The nominations were announced by Underworld star Kate Beckinsale, two-time Golden Globe Award-nominee Peter Krause, Paula Patton and Golden Globe winner and five-time nominee Jeremy Piven.
They were introduced by Hollywood Foreign Press Association president, Theo Kingma, who welcomed everyone to “the most anticipated buffet in town.” He was joined by dick clark productions’ executive producer Barry Adelman and Miss Golden Globe, Greer Grammer.

Asian World Film Festival (AWFF) Announces 2024 Film Line-Ups
Theย Asian World Film Festival (AWFF)ย announced the festivalโs Main Competition and Short Film lineups; select, noteworthy screenings; special program highlights; and centerpiece film. Celebrating its 10thย anniversary of showcasing Asian film from around the world, AWFF will take place November 13-21, 2024, at The Culver Theater in Culver City, CA. The nine-day festival will present narrative and documentary motion pictures and short films from 27 countries, including four that premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. More than 30 of the screenings will feature live Q&As with the filmmakers, talent, and crew. Georges N.
