We'll kick off the afternoon program with two panel discussions and a Q&A session. We'll hear about opportunities in an evolving marketplace spanning advertising and entertainment, and how some executives and artisans are leveraging their expertise in one area to another. The evening program kicks off with the debut of the 2014 12th Annual New Directors Showcase reel – work from the directors/directing teams who made the final cut in this year's New Directors Search conducted from January-March. Following the screening, we'll meet the New Directors and hear from Leading Production & Advertising execs. We'll then head downstairs for food, drink and meeting your fellow attendees, speakers and new directors.

Producers discuss their evolving roles as well as issues and developments of concern to them. We’ll hear from heads of production, executive producers and producers in the agency, feature, TV and commercialmaking communities touching upon such areas as content marketing, the logistics of producing a feature while maintaining a commercial/content production company, and marketplace dynamics that get in the way of good work.

4:30-5:30:pm: Multi-disciplinary Action: Directors
A look at the evolving multi-disciplinary world of filmmakers who find their opportunities increasingly spanning varied content platforms from features to documentaries, TV and web series, shorts, commercials and branded entertainment. Hear from the directors themselves, including one who recently made his feature, TV series and branded content debuts. Plus a perspective on the legal implications of shifting from one platform to the next.

About The New Directors Search / Showcase Reel…
Each year SHOOT conducts a worldwide search to discover the best up-and-coming directors who, based on their initial work, show promise to soon make major positive contributions to advertising and/or entertainment in its traditional and emerging forms. The search is conducted by SHOOT's editorial staff with input from advertising agency creative directors & heads of production, as well as production company heads and established directors. This year's search is being conducted from January 1-March 31, 2014. submissions in three categories. Criteria for entry is directing any type of advertising or entertainment content professionally less than 3 years.
Categories of entry:
1. Traditional Broadcast: TV Spots, spec work, cinema ads, branded content, music videos, trailers, broadcast promos
2. Alternative media content: webisodes, spots created for online, mobile phone content, in-game advertising, advergaming, virals, alternative reality gaming, ads created for PDAs
3. Film/TV Entertainment: Feature films, independent films, short films, TV programs.
