When a woman in the film industry loses her job, it can take up to twice as long as a man for her to find employment again. To combat this, Women In Film is launching a campaign with Saatchi & Saatchi NY called “For Your Consideration.” This is part of their larger Hire Her Back initiative, intended to highlight the women in the film industry who have lost their jobs as a result of the pandemic.
The simple fact is that women are less likely to be rehired following a major economic downturn. In an industry that already faces a large gender imbalance, this is an especially pressing issue.
The campaign includes a collection of “For Your Consideration” posters along with this 60-second video voiced by Lake Bell which highlights the gender inequity still prevalent in the film industry. The :60 affirms that the phrase “For Your Consideration” should not just be a pitch to Emmy/Oscar voters but should also apply to considering the many talented, capable women out there who deserve to be hired in varied roles–including but not limited to directors, DPs, producers, VFX artists, editors, et al.
