TyC Sports and agency Mercado McCann in Buenos Aires, have created a tribute to the late soccer legend Diego Armando Maradona, sharing the journey of the Aztec football, which travels around the world to give one last goodbye. Maradona passed away last month at the age of 60.
“Diego´s departure makes us feel like we are going through an endless mourning; it generates a wound that is impossible to heal. As a sports brand we had the need to share what we felt with the public, to comfort them and let them know that at TyC Sports we also feel that a part of us has left with him”. Expressed Mariano Malvasio, Chief Marketing Officer at TyC Sports.
In a joint statement, Mercado McCann chief creative officers Nico Massimino and Juan Pablo Lufrano shared, “Like many Argentinians, we feel the need to tell Diego how much we are going to miss him. The moment we decided along with TyC to go forward with this goodbye, we were careful to find the right tone, a message that touched people´s hearts, that felt genuine, affectionate and respectful, above all. We know that in these days there have been many tributes to Diego, but we felt that one was missing, one that is not more or less important but is key to this story.”
Titled “One Last Goodbye,” the spot was produced by LADOBLE, and directed by Santiago Charriere.
