Jeff Goldblum gives acting lessons to disappointed Xmas gift recipients in this campaign for Currys PC World created by AMV BBDO, London. David Shane of O Positive directed the spots, including “Foot Talc” in which a man gets the gift of foot talcum powder from his significant other. He’s clearly disappointed though he tries not to show it. She picks up on this but thankfully Goldblum intervenes, emerging in their bedroom seemingly from underneath or alongside the bed.
Goldblum then coaches the guy to pretend the gift is one he really wanted more than anything else, which turns out to be the Nespresso Inissia Coffee Machine. In full pretend mode, the gent gets a do-over on his prior uncomfortable moment and expresses his gratitude and love to his gal for the foot powder which he imagines to be the coffeemaker.
A super then advises us to “Spare the act this Christmas” by shopping at Currys PC World for the right electrical gadget/device gift.
Various versions of the spots–similarly themed with bad gifts and acting lessons from Goldblum–are rolling out across TV, cinema, VOD and online in the U.K. and Republic of Ireland.
