This spot is part of a Coca-Cola campaign from Spanish agency The Cyranos McCann which breaks through stereotypes. In the case of this particular ad, we see a grandma who is first categorized as old, frail, alone and dependent on others. But then we’re asked to take “an extra second” to see her for who she really is. At that point, the camera chronicles her making a solo skydive from a small plane. We find out she’s an experienced skydiver and at this landing she is greeted by family.
Directed by Andy Fogwill of production house Landia, the campaign spots cut through whatever prejudices we may have about a person to see that his or her story is quite different in reality. A voiceover and super then relate in the “Grandma” spot, “Without prejudice, we make a happier world.” Then as a bottle of Coke is opened, we see a slogan which reads, “Open To Others.”
