Tomas Mankovsky of Knucklehead directed this PSA for the U.K.’s National Autistic Society, featuring a 12-year-old autistic girl named Holly.
Titled “Make It Stop,” the piece presents a slice of life from Holly’s day, which can be overwhelming at times when she isn’t given enough time to process information. The film puts viewers in Holly’s shoes as when people talk to her, they don’t get an immediate response. Instead, the words of others go round and round in Holly’s mind, repeating themselves as she goes through her day.
To help her deal with this sensory overload, people need to give Holly more time to process and respond.
From ad agency Don’t Panic, “Make It Stop” has been released in time for World Autism Awareness Day on April 2.
