Macy’s has launched Santa Girl, a heartwarming and empowering story about the wonder of the season and remembering that anything can happen when we believe.
Inspired by seeing Santa Claus in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Santa Girl tells the story of Virginia, a young girl who wants to spread joy throughout the world just like St. Nick. After publicly voicing her dream, she is quickly challenged by her fellow classmates who tell her she can’t be Santa, because she’s a girl. Virginia does all she can to embody Santa’s joyful, festive spirit, and thanks to her own grit and determination, and a little help from her parents, Virginia’s holiday wish comes true.
Created by Macy’s and BBDO New York, the two-minute film (with :60 and :30 versions) stars Critics’ Choice Award-winning actress (The Florida Project) Brooklynn Prince, as Virginia. It also features an all-star line-up of talent behind the camera, including DGA Award-winning (Lion) director Garth Davis, Emmy-winning (Transparent) composer Dustin O’Halloran, and two-time Emmy-winning (Top of the Lake, True Detective) cinematographer Adam Arkapaw.
