Humble’s in-house design shop Postal was selected for concept-to-completion creative services on two custom videos for TED@UPS 2016. One of the pieces, Age of Exploration, discusses the importance of digital and social tools for mapmaking in today’s ever-connected and mobile world, noting that the technology needs to be balanced with local community insights of the neighborhoods and geographies being mapped.
Creative director Sam Stephens led the Postal team which developed scripts inspired by the TED@UPS 2016 theme “What If…” and designed animated content to illustrate each script. Age of Exploration features a 2D motion graphics style incorporating familiar map visuals such as topography lines. Postal also provided editorial and music composition. TED@UPS 2016 marks Postal’s second year working with the TED Institute to summarize and visualize major event themes.
