Kiran Koshy of Slash Dynamic directed this “Guy on a Buffalo Wing” spot for restaurant chain Zaxby’s out of agency Tombras. Our protagonist is the buffalo-riding hero from the viral web series based on the original online film “Buffalo Rider.”
For this commercial, our rider finds himself back in the forest where it all began but this time mounted on a giant buffalo chicken wing. On this journey he discovers Zaxby’s new Boneless Wings Meal and is inspired to reminisce about his past, along with his fellow forest creatures from the original tale.
The offbeat comedy spot is set to the tune of a folk song by Jomo & The Possum Posse, the band which narrated the original series. Director Koshy–an alum of SHOOT's 2017 New Directors Showcas– remarked, “This project presented me with a delightful smorgasbord of challenges. We had to figure out a longer linear piece that told a complete story around the product and served as a music video which paid homage to the original Man on A Buffalo viral videos.”
Michael Schrom of production house Schrom directed food/tabletop for the spot.

Top Spot of the Week: iPhone 16, Director David Shane “Write Smarter” With Apple Intelligence
Created by Apple’s in-house agency and directed by David Shane of production company O Positive, this commercial is one of two which continues the Apple Intelligence campaign for the iPhone 16.
Apple Intelligence is the personal intelligence system that can make users look, feel and be smarter. In the case of this “Write smarter” ad, we meet an office worker who leverages Apple Intelligence on his iPhone 16 Pro to dramatically improve his barely literate email to one that is professional, concise and has a measure of eloquence--much to the surprise and amazement of his boss.
This slice of office life highlights the value of key Apple Intelligence upgrades, including Writing Tools which work wonders with the quality of how one communicates and connects with others.
