J. Shia, an internationally known small business owner and custom motorcycle builder, stars in this spot for eBay Motors, part of a campaign which is the first created by agency JOAN Creative for the client.
JOAN focused on the insight that eBay represents a human-centered antidote to “big tech,” and designed the “Let’s Ride” campaign to celebrate the people, rather than the technology. The campaign is part of a larger platform that taps into eBay’s community to tell the true stories behind the sales.
“We went deep on eBay Motors and realized that it is full of a bunch of real-life characters, buying and selling parts and talking shop about their obsessions. I mean, the blog is hilarious.” said Jaime Robinson, co-founder and CCO, JOAN. “For our debut campaign, we wanted to bubble up some of the vivid personalities that make eBay Motors so special, and fan the flames of the community growing in the marketplace and in eBay’s made-by-the-people-style content.”
The spots–including this one featuring Shia–were directed by Amy Nicholson of production company Supply & Demand.
