In this two-minute public service film, a granddad writes a letter to his grandson Daniel, explaining why he can’t be there for his 10th birthday party. The grandfather, a war veteran, talks about self-sacrifice for things that are bigger than all of us–in this case staying safe and protecting yourself and others during a pandemic.
The lesson imparted is that when you wear a mask, maintain social distance, get vaccinated, responsibly refrain from experiences you would normally enjoy, you’re making a small sacrifice for your family, your community and your country.
Ad agency DiMassimo Goldstein (DiGo), known for its behavior-change marketing, initiated the film, gaining funding from the Dick Clark III Foundation and Film Form. Henry Corra of Corra Films directed the PSA.
The Massachusetts Health Council has picked up the film, posting it on its social channels. Additional exposure for the PSA is in the offing.
