Matt Bieler of RESET directed this PSA based on an original piece of music written by Bieler and Chris Newlin. Titled “Count To Ten, the piece illustrates the importance of teaching families and children about gun violence in the U.S. It was inspired by Sesame Street’s famous “Counting to 12” pinball song.
Like the sing-along online videos, this film is designed to teach kids how to count to 10 using song and the visual numbers we see in our everyday lives. The unfortunate conclusion is many of those numbers are found daily in crime scenes throughout America. Ten children (ages 0-17) were killed or injured every day in 2016 by a gun in the United States, according to stats on gunviolencearchive.org. The five-year average before 2016 was seven kids a day so the situation has worsened.
