Ad agency CALLEN teamed with production design and fabrication experiential agency Standard Transmission to create Cutie Polluties, limited edition plush toys. These adorable stuffed animals are marred in one respect–the cuddly sea creatures have been mutilated by single-use plastic that has gotten into our oceans.
CALLEN client, water brand Liquid Death, has made the Cutie Polluties available in its merchandise store–a gift for your favorite environmentalists. Liquid Death will donate 50 percent of the profits from every Cutie sold to help end plastic pollution.
This tongue-in-cheek commercial promoting Cutie Polluties, produced by Ghost Robot and CALLEN, has a 1990s’ toy ad vibe with kids embracing their stuffed animals. The spot, though, carries a sobering message, noting that if the single-use plastic waste problem isn’t curbed, plastic pollution will outweigh fish in the ocean pound for pound by the year 2050.
