Titled “Dinner,” this PSA is one of two rolled out for AdoptUSKids and the Ad Council, created pro bono by ad agency Barbarian. The work highlights the importance of adopting teens from foster care and shows that the rewards for doing so go both ways.
More than 100,000 children across the country are currently in foster care waiting to be adopted, and tens of thousands of them are teenagers. The new ads are based on stories from real families and carry the payoff line, “Learn about adopting a teen–you can’t imagine the reward.”
Charlie Mysak directed via production company Acres. “Dinner” depicts an adopted teen’s story as his new parents help him to grow and flourish. When the lad drives off for college, he leaves behind something in the refrig for mom and dad–a little gesture that speaks volumes about love and the profound value of a family bond.
“The power of this work comes in the true stories that inspired the creative–the small, but emotional interactions that connect us at a human level,” said Barbarian’s executive creative director Resh Sidhu.
