Initially grateful that former Saturday Night Live cast member Jason Sudeikis would pose with them for a photo/on-the-fly video, a tourist couple turns out to be a bit more demanding as the wife becomes auteur director, giving instructions to Sudeikis and her in-front-of-the-camera (cell phone) hubby as they embark on a second take. The spot underscores that there’s a film lover in all of us, hopefully driving traffic to the Tribeca Film Festival, sponsored by AT&T.
The AT&T ad is part of BBDO New York’s “Film for All” campaign designed to promote Tribeca. Brian Billow of O Positive directed the promo spot which is titled “Tourists.”
Given his SNL ties, Sudeikis is an ideal celeb for the piece in that Tribeca opens today (Wednesday, April 15) with the premiere of Bao Nguyen’s documentary about Saturday Night Live through the years: Live From New York!
The ad is now running on YouTube and will appear in theaters prior to every screening at the Tribeca Film Festival, starting April 15 and ending April 26.
Cut downs of the ad will run on Taxi TV, mobile pre-roll, elevator TV, and on charging stations at Tribeca Film Festival events. The campaign will also include print, OOH, digital and social support to show how AT&T is connecting more people to the power of film and provide information for how New Yorkers can get tickets to Film For All Friday, a one day event that offers free tickets to the public.
