Buskin/Warner Bros recording artist Andra Day performs an original song she co-wrote for the documentary Meru, winner of the Audience Award and nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.
The song “The Light that Never Fails,” featured over the end credits of the film, beautifully summarizes the epic journey that climbers Jimmy Chin, Conrad Anker, and Renan Ozturk embarked on to scale Mount Meru, telling a musical story of achieving the impossible, the power of determination and the bond of friendship. Day collaborated with songwriters Adrian Gurvitz (Ziggy Marley, Aaron Neville) and Lauren Christy (Avril Lavigne, Shakira, Enrique Iglesias) to write “The Light that Never Fails,” which is now available as a digital single.
Meru was directed by Chin and Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi.
